Almost 6 months

I'm sorry it's been so long since my last post. A lot has happened since then.

Abigail is learning so fast. She can roll, but from her tummy to her back best. That's probably because she doesn't like being on her tummy much. On Monday, I started giving her rice cereal and boy, was she ready for that. Abigail practically dove into the bowl. I just couldn't get it into her mouth fast enough.
She loves being in her exersaucer and the walker(at Grandma's). Toffi, Grandma and Grandpa's puppy, is a little bit afraid of her after Abigail pulled a handful of fur out of Toffi's head.

Christmas is only 11 days away and I cannot wait to see her with all of the people in her cute little dress and opening presents.

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a very Merry CHRISTmas!

Enjoy the cute photos of Abigail. My friend took them at church.

Daddy's still gone

My husband did come home from working out of state on August 17th(I believe), but he was only able to be home for four days before leaving for Georgia. It's been exactly 3 weeks since he's been gone and we can't wait for him to return home.

Abigail has changed so much in that time. Her hair is now quite curly and very cute. She can hold her head up for at least ten minutes. While on her tummy, Abigail can push her head and whole chest off the floor. When I turn the TV on, she will sit and watch it for a little while. She folds her hands and sucks on her fist. Abigail loves to see things and insists on being carried facing away from me most of the time. She loves looking in the mirror at herself and talks to that baby in the mirror.

At night, Abigail only wakes up a couple of times to be fed and changed. However she has been sleeping on her daddy's side of the bed.

I miss my Daddy.

Last Monday, my husband left for a business trip that was supposed to be only a week, but then he got called to another state so he will be gone another week.
Abigail misses her Daddy, and has been sleeping on his side of the bed every morning since he left. She's making so many more sounds, now. She coos, whines, laughs, and cries different cries. Her cheeks are chubby and oh so smoochable.
At six weeks old, she has almost outgrown the newborn diapers, meaning she's about 10 pounds.
When her Daddy comes back, he's going to dance with and sing to Abigail. He'll snuggle with her and smooch all over her.
I can't wait till he comes home.

A visit with Dr. Bob

This morning Abigail had her one month checkup with Dr. Bob.
She is definitely healthy, weighing a whopping 9lbs 5oz now. That's more than 3lbs over her birthweight. Her length is 20" and her head is 14 1/2 cm around. He was talking about being able to skip a feeding during the night now and said that I don't have to set my alarm now. I thought, "People set their alarms for feedings and their babies sleep more than 3 hours at a time? Not my baby. Alarm? I feed on demand."
Dr. Bob said that it's okay if I let her sleep 10 hours one night, but not all the time.
Abigail has not yet slept for more than 3 hours at a time. Dr. Bob is a goofy guy and told me that Abigail is part of his "Super Secret Club," so she should be able to get in to see him whenever she wants. He also gave me the names of good doctors who have worked with children alot and the name of one doctor that I should avoid bringing Abigail to if at all possible.

One month old

Abigail is one month old today and she looks like it, too.
She has baby acne and the past couple nights at around the same time, she justs cries and cries and we can't do anything to get her to stop. I think she's colic.
Last week Tuesday, she weighed a whole 7lbs 14 oz, still not up to what my birth weight was. I think she's possibly a pound heavier and a couple inches longer now.
Yesterday I noticed her making more cooing noises. She's so cute! I must put more pictures of her on here, but I haven't yet found the time.

Baby's first week at home

We brought Abigail home from the hospital last Saturday and I cannot believe how fast that week has gone. The first couple nights, my husband and I got very little sleep and would get out of bed to check on her with every noise she made. Now, we've got some kind of routine down.
Here's how it goes:
I feed Abigail and go to bed
Daddy(my husband) plays with her, changes her, etc. until she gets hungry
I feed her and my husband goes to bed
Abigail falls asleep then I go to sleep
Until around 4am, I take care of Abigail and then sleep when she sleeps.
Then she sleeps in our bed(I know, bad habit to start, but she sleeps so well).
When I get up, I try to get myself ready and whatever else I can get done, while Daddy takes care of Abigail. Then I feed her.

If it isn't obvious already, I breastfeed my baby. I love how convenient it is, but until I start pumping, my husband won't be able to help.

Welcome!

I set up this blog so that our, mine and my husband's, friends and family can see pictures and find out what's going on in the life of my first child. So many of you (friends and family) live far away from us and I want to keep you updated on baby. I am going to talk to my husband about writing some post in spanish as well.
Enjoy!
